Overview
The Trials of Morality

Every being has a form of morality, whether they dabble in the dark arts, seek to do good among others, or perhaps even sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. The Trials of Morality aim to shape your character into their personality and beliefs. Every character is expected to go on this journey, but at their own pace and time. The Trials of Morality is completed to give benefits in activites such as rarer loot. It is necesary to complete the trials of Morality to particpate in the Grand Hunt.

Detailed Information

All characters require two prompts to be completed. You must complete one juvenile prompt and one adult prompt! The prompts must be completed to the best of your ability. Trials are considered core lore pieces, so putting your best effort in is highly encouraged!

You will be able to pick if you wish for this to be considered Wild, Domestic, or Aether Moralities! There is no difference between the options aside from how the trial will appear on your dragon's page.

Up to four characters are allowed to have their Trials completed per submission, per player. This means if you are completing the trials as a collab, then each player may use 4 of their characters.

When calculating your Experience make sure you add in the Rite's points as well!

PROMPTS
Finding a Mentor

Try as we might, we can’t always learn everything that we need to all on our own. Sometimes we need to look to others for guidance, has your dragon found someone to help teach them what they need in life? Were they just a passerbyer who taught them something valuable? Perhaps they might have been your parents or simply a very knowledgeable friend.

Depict your dragon with someone who is helping to guide your dragon! Were they a welcome mentor or perhaps did your dragon wish they would disappear?

LEArning Lessons

Does your dragon learn to mind its manners the hard way? Were their parents good teachers or did they have to learn things without their guidance? Everyone experiences these situations differently, and it can define who they will be when they grow up.

Depict your dragon as they get into trouble, or help someone who has gotten into trouble. This can be them being scolded or caught during the act, or having a teaching moment with another character or companion.

Memories

There are many moments that make up a person’s life. Some of these moments turn into memories that they cherish far into adulthood while others are ones that haunt them forever. Perhaps it was just a moment where they achieved something that they’re proud of, or a moment when they ended up embarrassing themselves infront of someone they admire. Maybe they simply witnessed a beautiful scene that they found deeply profound!

Depict your dragon in a situation that they will remember forever, wether that be for better or worse.

FIRST STEPS

Every dragon needs to learn how to get around. Some learn to fly, others learn to walk and some learn both. It’s not always an easy task for everyone, and some may do better than others in this task.

Depict your dragon as they learn to walk or fly. Do they manage to do it wonderfully, or do they struggle?

Where do you find your food?

Food is one of the most important things for a dragon. Without it one would slowly wither away, but not everyone gets food the same way. Some hunt, some fish, some scavenge, some gather- and some do absolutely none of that! Sometimes dragons chose to buy with crystals or steal the hard work of others.

Depict your character seeking out their preferred foods. This can be literal preferred or just their favorite. Do they hunt down an animal for meat, or are they fishing? Are they seeking out special vegetables or herbs, or do they prefer the simplicity of a truly home cooked meal? Perhaps they are simply a scavenger, stealing what they can find, be it another's kill or the pie someone left out on the window?

How do you protect your own?

There are things that we treasure deeply. Sometimes its a small gem that was a gift from someone, while othertimes it is another person entirely. They are something that we must keep safe at all costs, but how?

Depict your dragon trying to protect something precious! Do they hover protectively near the precious thing, set up some traps, or do they end up having to fight with someone that means harm?

Trial of Safety

Perhaps the most meaningful part of raising young is finding them the safetest place they can grow. Being vulnerable, your young depends on your keen choices to keep them safe. Some are better at this than others, and it often shows in their choice of nesting location and materials.

Depict your character either choosing a location for a nest or building a nest. Do they bring sturdy items? Do they choose a place where they are safe? Or have they gone a bit astray and found a place that is frankly not quite safe, or at the very least practical?

Trial of Territory

while no one can truly own or tame the wild lands of Empyrean, there are those individuals who will claim dominion over stretches of land, happily claiming it as their own and defending it from those who would try to take it or pass through unwanted.

Depict your character defending their territory. They may be defending the territory from another of their species, or a creature that is unwelcome.

Depict your dragon obtaining food! Do they work to obtain it themselves or do they feed themselves through alternative means?

How do you protect your own?

There are things that we treasure deeply. Sometimes its a small gem that was a gift from someone, while othertimes it is another person entirely. They are something that we must keep safe at all costs, but how?

Depict your dragon trying to protect something precious! Do they hover protectively near the precious thing, set up some traps, or do they end up having to fight with someone that means harm?

Peacemaker or Instigator?

Sometimes we may be faced with whether or not to do the right thing, wether that’s aiding someone or leaving them to figure it out. Perhaps a creature is suffering and you have the option to try and heal it or put it out of it’s misery. There are countles ways to handle a moral dilemma.

Depict your dragon in a moral dilemma! Do they decide to help? Do they watch the situation from a distance? Or maybe do they make the task harder for everyone involved.

Where is your Place?

Home is where your heart is- or was it hearth? Perhaps the phrase is determined by the one saying it, but either way everyone has some place that they consider their home, wether its a cave they filled with pelts, a cottage they’ve stolen from some pesky little human, or a caravan that they pull with them in their travels! Maybe your character simply has a location that they love to spend their time in or are happiest when sitting with their beloved.

Depict your dragon where they feel most at home! It can be a literal home, or a more metaphorical home.

The Trials of Ouroboros

The trials of Ouroboros are a sacred journey - many undergo this trial to be part of the continual death and rebirth of the world. A character must complete this trial to be able to take part in Nesting Submissions. Each character only needs to complete one prompt and then they will earn their Orouboros Emblem, signifying they are allowed to be paired in nesting submissions - provided they have available nesting slots.

The prompts themselves are split into two types: Lore and Other Prompts. Lore prompts are designed to be more in line with the world lore of the game, while other prompts are more vague and loose. You may pick any prompt you wish to complete.

Blind Characters no longer need to complete the blind prompt. This prompt has been removed from the game and is no longer necessary!

Detailed Information

All character require just one prompt to be completed. This can be any prompt in the provided list below. You must depict your character completing the prompt to the best of your ability and meeting the submission requirments. Trials are considered core lore pieces, so putting your best effort forward is highly encouraged!

Souls-Between no longer requires any mentors to be present in the piece. You can have a mentor, companion, or it can be solo with your character by themselves.

When calculating your Experience make sure you check off the Orouboros Emblem points as well!

Characters gain nesting slots at each rank up:

PROMPTS

Trial of Perseverance

The mark of a truly adaptable soul is one that can persevere in even the most harshest environments. Those who dear the perilous reaches of a region are often regared as wise and knowledgeable in their ability to survive and cary on those teachings to their offspring. Many seek out the knowledge these souls have and will request aid. However, the journey is a struggle and no one soul who has walked through them is without their memory of the trial. Be it within the frozen reaches of the Frigid wastes, the swamp marshes which house some of the largest crocodiles known to man, or deep with the entangled forests of the Aether Realm.

Depict your Character traveling through dangerous weather in one of the regions of Empyrean.

Trial of Instinct

Instincts are thought to be the sixth sense of souls - something that lurches in your gut and tells you to get away or do a certain action. Having a good instinct means you survive - and those who are with you will also survive so long as they listen to your gut. Can you prove that you have a good instinct? Do you learn things the hard way? Do others depend on your instinct to lead them?

Depict your character as they must use their instincts. Are they in a fight and must use instinict to know when to back away? Are they in peril and needing to find a way out. Or Are they seeking proper shelter and choosing a cave over crafting their own shelter?

Trial of the Keeper

A keeper of those who would be in peril without the steady eye of a guardian. Many prove their worthiness through their determination and willingness to do anything it takes to meet their goals. Regardless the outcome, those who walk this trial are seen as guardians and keepers of knowledge and places that others may never have seen or known. Be it keeping a watchful eye on a younger of their own, or by finding places that others never would have seen had they even taken a second glance.

Depict your character either guarding another from a threat, be it weather or creature related, OR, depict your character as they find a well hidden location that is far from prying eyes. Do they find a long forgotten castle, or are they protecting their people in a castle?

Trial of Flight

Many walk before they run, but why run when you can Fly? Some species find that flying is the best way to determine the strength of a partner. Can you match the flight of another? Can you out fly the fastest of birds or other species that would challenge you? Dragons are long revered for their magic, but their ability to fly has been a gift to those who do not have that ability. Show your strength and ability to master the sky.

Depict your character flying. Are they doing a dangerous trick? Taking flight with their companion or bringing along a creature that cannot fly? Have they taken to the sky to fight another creature that threatens them or their nest?

Trial of the Provider

All things must eat to survive. Be it the mighty meat eating carnivore, or the humble herbivore finding flora to sustain itself. Some may travel miles through perilous regions to find the food they need, while others have an overabundance of their preferred foods. Regardless, the world is a delicate ecosystem.

Trial of Glamour

Furthering your lineage means impressing another of your species - and each species has their own way of showing off to a potential partner. Some, like the Sapiere, will make their throat pouches glow brightly, while the Ravager will lock claws in deadly sky diving combat with would be contenders.

Depict your character as they show off what makes them a better a partner to potential mate. Are they brightly colored? Do they have impressive wings or plumage? Do they fight for it?

Trial of Safety

Perhaps the most meaningful part of raising young is finding them the safetest place they can grow. Being vulnerable, your young depends on your keen choices to keep them safe. Some are better at this than others, and it often shows in their choice of nesting location and materials.

Depict your character either choosing a location for a nest or building a nest. Do they bring sturdy items? Do they choose a place where they are safe? Or have they gone a bit astray and found a place that is frankly not quite safe, or at the very least practical?

Trial of Territory

The Trials of Aether

All creatures are in tune with the magic of the world - some more so than others. While across the empires there are those who would shun all things magical there are even more who accept and embrace magic. All beings are born with varying magic within them, but it takes a lot of study and practice to unleash the full power of the magic they hold. They do this by completing their Aether trials.

Types of Magic

Souls-Between features freedom in the types of magic that are available. Just because it isn't listed, doesn't mean it doesn't belong to one of these categories. Each category is intended to be broad and open for interpretation, but we have included examples to help you pick where your character's magic might fall.

  • Arcane Magic: Summoning, animating inanimate objects, and binding souls to objects or bodies (such as necromancy).
  • Illusionist Magic: Shape shifting, altering one’s body or the image of oneself in the eyes of another. Can sometimes even cast illusions on others
  • Elementalist Magic: The ability to use elements to create items, deal damage, or effect their surroundings in minor ways.
  • Healing Magic: The ability to heal oneself and others. Can sometimes reverse serious illness or injuries for a short time such as granting temporary sight to the blind.
  • Enchantment Magic: The ability to enchant objects with magical abilities, or use these objects to their fullest potential. Can sometimes remove enchantments from objects, but not often if the enchantment stems from dark magic.

You can mix and match your magic types for high and low classes! Please note however you only get the bonus that magic type gives for that class. So you won't be able to claim the quest bonus for high class quests if your high class magic does not match. Additionally, any Aether Talents are only earned via the high class you choose - not the low class.

Aether Classes
Basic Class

Rank Requirements: N/A, Any Dragon can do this!
Unlocks:

  • Boost to quest Passing
  • Use of Magic without items in combat

This is the first trial in your aether journey. The first step that is taken and their introduction to magic. It might be something they learn during danger or through long hours of study. Some dragon’s find a mentor to teach them while others learn on their own.

BASIC CLASS PROMPT
Discovering magic is the first step in awakening the aether that lives in us all. For dragons and other mystical creatures alike, this is often a momentous occasion. All beings have a trace of magic inside them, and the strength of your magic is thought to be related to your spiritual ties to the Aether realm. To awaken the basic class, a character must use their magic for their first time. Was it a chaotic accident? Were they trying to save themselves or another? Perhaps they were being foolish and accidently found their magic while cooking a chicken? Did they have a mentor that finally helped them produce that spark of magic?

Depict your character as they use their magic for the first time. This has endles possibilities and you may depict the magic in any form so long as it is clearly a magical ability. You are free to use your creative imagination to depict how your character uses their magic for the first time! It doesn’t have to match any particular magic type.

Low Class

Rank Requirements: Ancient Rank, Basic Class Magic
Unlocks:

  • Boost to passing quests that match the magic type
  • Increase Magical Damage in combat
  • Access to low class quests

Your character begins to understand more of their magic ability and they pick a category to focus in. Their knowledge will grow, and their ability to use the magic will as well. Low class magic allows a character to pass quests that match up to their category better than that of dragons who only have their Basic Class Magic

LOW CLASS PROMPT
Magic doesn't always go the way you want. It's often uncontrollable and wild, no matter how much you think you know it something will always happen. Did you try to light a candle and accidentally burn a house down? Did you have a magical explosion and accidentally injure yourself / others, maybe you couldn't heal someone you wanted to heal.

Depict a time things didn't go according to plan with magic! It can be a major or a minor incident so long as it was something your dragon didn’t plan on hapening and matches with the magic type you chose. (This can be different from your future High Class magic if you want!)

High Class

Rank Requirements: Primordial Rank, Low Class Magic
Unlocks:

  • Aether Talent Unlocked based on Magic type
  • Highest boost to passing quests that match magic type
  • Increase of magical damage in combat
  • Access to high class quests

Characters have chosen to further their study in a particular type of magic. Because of the toll on a dragon’s body, mind, and soul, they are only ever capable of learning one magic type to its highest form, and should they choose to learn another, they lose the ability to use their mastery of the previous learned class. No one is for certain why this happens.

HIGH CLASS PROMPT
All great dragons at one point or another have a grand display of their magic where they are at top form. What is it like when your dragon is at peak form? What is their grand dispaly? Do they summon an entire whirlwind of fire, raise an army of skeletons behind them, do they manage to cast a protective barrier around an entire city or cure a deadly plague? Maybe they managed to cast an illussion wide enough to cover an entire town.

Depict your dragon at peak form giving the show of their lives. The magic depicted has to match with one of the Magic types (This can be a different magic from your Low Class magic!

AETHER TALENTS

Arcane - Aetherling’s Favor

With such talent in the arcane arts your dragon has attracted the attention of an Aetherling. The spirit is stronger than those you’ve come across before and appears each time you find yourself in trouble.

A skill that summons an Aetherling as a battle pet in Crucible/Event Battles. It does take up one of the two battle pet slots, but is considerably stronger than normal pets.

Aetherling Summon Stats:
Raw damage: 10
Bleed: 5
Magic: 45
Breath: 30

Elemental - Perfect Nest

With the elements on their side the dragon is able to create a perfect nest to help in the nesting process. No longer will a nest be too cold or too warm, always will it be perfect.

A skill that increases the Nesting Item limit +1
(If both Dam and Sire have it it’s +2)

Healing - Revitalizing Aura

You’ve seen broken bones, perhaps you’ve even been poisoned! It always looks quite painful but no matter how bad it gets you can’t let it get in your way. You can cure others of blindness- but you can’t heal your own injuries. Maybe you cat at least mitigate the pain?

A skill that allows you to ignore the repercussions of status effects during activities. All additional dragon’s in the image along with your dragon will not take additional damage from status effects.

Extra Bonus: You can also heal the blind by submitting a claim!

Enchantment - Endless Satchel

A basic necessity for all enchanters, a satchel that seems to have no end! Now you can carry everything you ever need with you, maybe even other dragos could fit in there? The possibilities are endless.

A skill that gives +2 items in all activities/events.

Illusion - Timeless Transformation

While many dragons can learn how to take on one additional form your dragon has mastered the art of illusion. After a brief study they are able to mimic the shape of anything they have seen before!

A skill that allows your dragon to be depicted in alternate forms in official souls pieces. The forms have to follow the dragons markings/colors and be recognizeble as them!

Overview
THE TRIALS OF SPIRIT

Finding that life-long partner is never an easy task. There are always up's and down as no one is ever perfect, but it can be of great help to one's spirit if they gain it. Sometimes that partner will be a lover, while other times they may simply be a friend or sibling that they've put their full trust into. The dragons of Empyrean sometimes claim they feel lost if they wander around alone or as if something is missing, while those who have found a partner say it's fullfilled them in ways they never would have imagined. Not everyone is cut out for having a life long partner, but if they can find someone worthy a whole new world is opened. It's filled with up's and downs but at the end it worth it.

Detailed Information

The trials of spirit are all about having someone you can trust and rely on. You may complete these trials with another dragon OR to a companion!  (The companion may be an OC or come from another ARPG species if you wish!) Once the two have proven the strength of their bond the dragon's involved will receive many buffs  including:

+2 CE bonus when depicted toether
A chance to bring back rarer items in all activities except for questing when depicted together
An increased pass chance in questing  when depicted together

If bonded two dragons together the following buffs apply:
Guaranteed 2 Egg Nest in Nesting
If they are the same gender they do not require Soul Twine.

Dragons also unlock their SOUL INCARNATION.

PROMPTS
Time is Precious

When with someone you care for there it is said that time stands still and every second is precious. What is a moment with your significant other that you cherish deeply? Did you watch them wolf down three deer in one sitting and fall in love right there, or did the two of you sit in a hill overlooking a flowery field. Maybe you two frolicked together and burnt an entire city to the ground. Ah, such wonderful memories.

Depict a precious moment shared between the two characters! It can be the moment they fell in love, when they are doing their favorite activity, or just a peaceful moment of silence. Maybe a funny memory that while painful in the moment is looked back upon fondly.

Emotional Damage

Arguments are inevitable. Harsh words are thrown back and forth in the heat of the moment and feelings are hurt. Perhaps when fighting aggression starts to rise and the only way to sort out whose right and whose wrong is with a brawl. Sometimes pairs need to take a break after an argument and go their separate ways for a little bit until tempers cool.

Depict the two characters in an argument! Can they solve it peacefully or does a fight break out between them? Perhaps one of them is leaving to cool their head.

Is this what you wanted?

Everyone has something secret that they love more than words. Sometimes it’s a type of food, participating in a certain activity, or perhaps its a type of item that they collect endlessly. Learning about what your partner’s love is a vital part of all relationships. Clearly if you can get more of whatever it is for them then that would be great! Right?

Depict one of the characters trying to give their partner a gift! Did they give a bouquet of roses  or did they accidentally get something their partner hates?  It’s the thought that counts in any case.

First meetings

While some relationships have lasted for years, there is always a moment where they first meet one another. It might be a sweet tale of seeing one another across a crowded room, while for others it might have been a one sided crush. Sometimes dragons meet out in the gladiator arena’s while others meet under more tense preteses! Perhaps when they first met eachother they automatically hated one another. The possibilities are endless.

Depict the two characters meeting for the first time! Was the meeting smooth and pleasant or was it a more rough beggining to their relationship?

Open Wounds

Sickness and injury are commonplace within Empyrean. No matter how hard you try it will happen one way or another. Either you or your companion have gotten sick or injured and are left in the other care. How do they take care of you? Are they a fantastic medic who can patch you right on up? Do they try their best but fail miserably? Or are they petrified of blood or disease and faint on the spot?

Depict one of the two characters either injured or sick and being cared for by the other! The one caring doesn’t have to be great at it, but they are at least there for them.

Grand Displays

Spending your life with someone is a big decision and sometimes your partner needs a bit of coaxing that you are the right choice. Perhaps you throw a grand party to try and show off your care for them, or maybe you show them your hoard of jewels to see if that would impress them. Perhaps you rely solely on your looks and decide to dress up to see if you can charm them that way. There are many ways to flaunt yourself after all.

Depict one of the two characters trying to impress the other! Did they manage to put on an impressive display or did they perhaps decide that showing their partner their favorite rock was the best idea?

A Treacherous Path

Things aren’t always smooth sailing while travelling together. A Snowstorm might blow in and trap you and your partner in a cave, or perhaps a local river has completely flooded the area you were supposed to visit and swept away your partner. Maybe they went out into the blistering Scorching Wastes without enough water. Weather can be treacherous, but together you will get through it.

Depict the two characters as they make their way through a dangerous situation. The prompt must display a dangerous setting that your dragon and their partner must navigate together.

I’ll Protect you with my life

The pair are bound to come across dangerous situations in their lifetime. Perhaps a band of poachers have come hunting for your dragon, or maybe wolves have circled their companion. Perhaps it’s even a simple situation where someone has spat upon the honor of your partner. Whatever the case is you must defend them!

Depict one of the characters defending the other! Was it a verbal insult that was hurled which must now be met with fists, or has someone come after them looking for trouble?
