[Gift] Facing The Monster (Prompt 3)

Fallen followed after the giant pink rayfin, having no idea where she was taking her, for all she knew she could be taking her to a monster that’d eat her alive. But, for whatever reason, she trusts her.

That was until they found Dragonfruit’s sibling…

They had exited a large rocky cavern after what felt like forever swimming through it. But, once they exited this cavern, they were lending out to an open area of rocks and more rocks. It was so open, that Fallen swore she could see miles from this spot, but that’s not what drew Fallen’s attention. Oh no.

What drew Fallen’s attention was the fact that a massive black three-headed rayfin was currently slamming their heads into one of these many rocks.

And, surrounding this rayfin, were about five or so little white glowing transparent eels that seemed just as distressed as this massive rayfin was.

But this rayfin…something was off about it. There were scratch marks and bite marks all throughout its body, there’s no way a bunch of rocks would do that. And despite the fact that this rayfin was solid black, the way its skin moved in the glow of the water…made it seem…not real? If Fallen didn’t know any better, she would’ve thought they would’ve come upon a ghost.

“Sister!”

No! Don’t make any noise!

Fallen turned to Dragonfruit, her eyes wide with concern. And yet, Dragonfruit seemed to ignore her and swim closer towards this…black monster.

“I’ve brought someone who can help! She helped me break from my trance too, maybe she can help you too!”

Fallen swore that every fiber of her being had left her body when this black monster lifted its head from the rocks and turned to them. The heads didn’t have eyes. The heads didn’t have any eyes!!!

The black monster snarled at the rayfin’s words, and instead of being grateful that her sister brought help… It seemed even more angry that she was there at all! Its large tail slammed to the ground, causing sand and rocks to go everywhere, and then it suddenly launched itself at Dragonfruit.

In the blink of an eye, it launched itself across the open field and went straight for Dragonfruit’s body. Despite the fact that it doesn’t have any eyes, it has some deadly accuracy.

All Dragonfruit could do was freeze in shock, and Fallen tried to make a move, but she knew she wouldn’t reach the pink rayfin in time-

Then, just as Fallen thought she would see a bloody scene before her eyes, she heard a loud screech and a blur of solid black at the corner of her eye. She gasped as she saw a wyvern bashing her curled horns right into the black rayfin’s side, causing the rayfin to roar in pain.

And yet, this black wyvern was not done. No, far from it.

Fallen watched in awe as the wyvern next opened her jaw and clamped hard on one of the three rayfins necks. The rayfin roared and tried to shake her off, but the wyvern was determined, and instead held on by digging her talons and claws into the rayfins hard skin. She was not going down without a fight.

“Sister!! Please!! It’s me! Don’t you recognize your own sibling?!”

As the rayfin continued to fight and struggle, Fallen suspected that to be a no.

But, Fallen shook her head. Guess it was time to fight! And she can’t fight when she’s just staring!

“Your sister doesn’t recognize you right now, Dragonfruit!” Fallen swam forward, her glowing eyes glaring at the pink rayfin. “And if you’re not going to help, then get out of the way! We don’t want you to get hurt!” Fallen shouted to Dragonfruit, and she lunged herself at the black blob as well.

Fallen didn’t bother with listening to Dragonfruit’s response. Instead, she didn’t waste any time to help this wyvern attack this black monster. Using her long strong tail, Fallen wrapped it around one of the many rayfin’s flippers and latched onto its skin with her claws. Finally, she also clamped down her jaw on the lower jaws of the head that was trying to attack the wyvern.

Fallen felt blood pooling into her mouth, and it tasted disgusting, but she wasn’t going to back down. She might not have sharp fangs since she’s a herbivore, but she’s still going to help wherever she can. At the corner of her eye, she saw the ghostly eels screech and swim around in fear and distress. Fallen wondered if that’s what this rayfin was feeling, maybe they were linked to it somehow-

Fallen’s ears were shattered by a piercing screech coming from the rayfin. And before she could even move, she felt agonizing pain dig into her shoulder blade. She screamed in pain as something dug into her shoulder and forcefully tore her away from the rayfin.

She glanced over to see that it was one of the heads! It had grabbed her in its jaw and was tearing her from its skin!

To make matters worse, the rayfin was slamming its large tail against the wyvern since the head couldn’t reach over there to save the other head. And gosh, if she thought the mouth of this rayfin was painful enough, the tail looked even more painful-

Fallen growled in pain as the head managed to pry her from the skin, and she was tossed against a rock. She screamed as her body collided with the rock, shattering it into pieces.

And then she heard another scream.

She looked up to see that, now that the head was free, it had clamped onto the wyvern and had pulled her from its body too. It was shaking the wyvern around like she was a toy, all the while blood was flying in the air and screams of the wyvern pierced the ocean waters.

Until, finally, the rayfin was tired of playing with its new toy and it threw the wyvern to the ground with a loud thud.

Fallen winched upon seeing how bloodied the wyvern appeared, and with her dark scales the red blood became even more noticeable. The bronze emperor gulped in fear, and her glowing eyes glanced up at the black blob.

Even though it was bleeding from its open wounds, it didn’t seem to even notice it…or care. It threw its head back and roared so loudly that Fallen swore the entire ocean waters trembled and shook with it.

And Fallen was sure that she was looking at the grim reaper itself, cause there’s no way a living being can be this terrifying.
