A toppled over cart - FOSL Moonlight
Revin's chatter and keeping of company had been a quiet whisper into the night, both gentle in tone as to not disturb the peace all too much. It surprised him, when Lunaris got up from her comfortable position and gestured for him to follow.
Revin wasn't a very complicated dragon. He had his territory, and whatever wandered into it or lived in it would get protection from him as long as they are kind to him. Even stranger dragons were to be treated with friendliness by him, so seeing this dragon, Lunaris, somberly lounging by the beach with a little pile of trinkets that seemed to bring her no real joy. At least not right now.
And now, she lead him down a path. He walked with gentle steps, ensuring that what slept here would not be disturbed by their wandering. After a wordless exchange, he understood that she wished to show him the delightful moonlight, introduce him to this quaint path on which the stones glittered just right when the light of the moon hit them.
He guessed that most dragons would try to steal one of these shiny things, for themselves, entranced by the glittering. In fact some stones were visibly missing, and Lunaris' eyes suggested that his guess was right. He didn't feel like it was the fault of the dragons, though, that they were to take a stone. After all, most likely did not know they belonged to another, or they took them when the path was not moonlit. Or perhaps, they needed it.
Regardless, he wished to assume that the dragons bore no ill will when it came to taking the stones.
Unexpectedly on this poorly cobbled road, a wagon was found. Upturned, damaged. It was a sight for sore eyes, that was for sure. He sniffed the ground nearby. A trace of horse, a trace of human. Rather recent, so they must have left to find help from the nearest town ahead. If he remembered it correctly, the nearest town ahead was actually of his humans.
He turned to Lunaris, looking her in the eyes.
"Could you please fly ahead and see if the human on horseback is going towards a town, bearing red banners?", He asked her. She nodded and took off- practically noiselessly. It was a rather impressive feat for a dragon with wings like hers. The tiniest cloud of dust kicking up. Whenever he took off, it unfortunately kicked up the equivalent of a sandstorm.
He turned the wagon the right side up with his nose, carefully collecting the scattered goods and placing them back inside. A majority of them had already been piled together, likely so that the human wouldn't accidentally lose them, but there had been no attempt on turning the wagon back up. It made sense, this was a rather large vehicle.
After a few brief minutes, he heard a noise. Not quiet and graceful like Lunaris- Another dragon. As he turned his head, he was met with a small, bat-like Ravager, hanging from a tree, watching him.
"Can I help you, tiny one?", He asked them.
The small ravager turned their head a couple of times, looking between the cart and Revin.
"Are you stealing?", the little one asked.
"No, I am collecting the items."
"That sounds like another form of stealing."
"They will be returned to their owner, I will bring this cart to them.", he stated, lightly placing the final few packages into the cart.
"Do you know what happened, small one?"
"My name is Richard!" The ravager introduced. "Not Small one."
"Well, do you know what happened, Richard?" He corrected himself.
Richard scratched his chin with the claw on his wing, hopping towards the cart.
"Angry Drake." He answered.
"An angry drake? It doesn't smell like drake." Revin said.
"Well, I saw a drake running wildly away from one part of the island, and then smashing into this cart, and then running off elsewhere." Richard explained. "The human was lucky that they were not eaten! They looked kind of ferocious. Maybe covered in blood? I couldn't tell."
"Well it certainly does not smell like blood." Revin commented.
They watched eachother for a little bit, until the ravager, Richard, suddenly wandered off.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"Find. Thing."
Well. That was a vague answer. He sat down by the cart as he heard the shuffling of leaves in the foliage nearby. After a little bit, Richard came bounding back.
"Fwndn!!" He barely managed to say.
"Found what?"
Richard scrambled towards the cart, before very carefully sticking his head inside of it to deposit the item he had found. He stepped away and hopped around in place.
"Last package! It was FLUNG!" Richard said.
"Thank you for returning it. You're a very kind dragon."
"No problem!! Hope the human gets the cart!" Richard said. And just as he randomly arrived, he skittered off again.
What a strange dragon.
After an additional few minutes, he saw Lunaris in the sky, briefly blotting out the moon with her silhouette as she landed nearby. She spoke in her soft voice.
"The human is nearly at the town." Lunaris told him. He nodded as he got up, looking over the cart. As he raised himself up on his back legs, he carefully grabbed onto the cart with his front legs. It was a good thing that it had a canvas seal to keep the items from falling out.
And with two heavy beats of his wings, he climbed into the sky with the cart, following the path towards the nearby town. Lunaris curiously watched him and followed him into the air.
It did not take long before Revin landed at the town entrance, carefully placing the cart down just as the traveller arrived on horseback. They were a little baffled at the sight of a dragon carefully returning their cart, but were thankful for the assistance. Revin watched as the local townsfolk approached him with gratitude and general appreciation. These were indeed his humans. He lightly prodded one of them with his nose in an affectionate gesture.
From the corner of his eye he saw Lunaris, gently smiling before nodding at him.
It seemed that this would be where they would part ways. He lightly bowed to her as he watched her take off into the night.
Revin finds an upturned cart and decides to deliver it and its contents to the owner. Richard helpfully arrives to give the loosest information and ensure that all the goods go home to their owner.
