At first Ajax appears to be little more than a hardened animal of war, his heart gone cold by his life of taking lives in order to obtain victory. As a baby dragon he was sold to a commander, named Zachary, of the Radient Empire's Army. The dragon's purpose was to be little more than a war machine. Zachary, although rather flawed, turned out to be a rather kind handler to Ajax and in his early years often looked to the dragon for companionship. Day after day the two trained for battle, Ajax quickly turning into a powerful killing machine. By the time he reached adulthood he already had his place in the army. However, the dragon with a good heart deep down had his exterior turned arrogant with a sharp tongue as a result. Those who truly know him will say that once he feels that he is "top dog" he quickly becomes very friendly and filled with humor.      Zachary and Ajax worked side by side for years in the army earned themselves high ranks, medals, and glory as they continued to win battles. However, in one fateful battle their luck and skill seemed to run out. As the two warriors fought Zachary was pinned by an opponent dragon and Ajax hastily came to his rescue. Luckily for Zachary, the dragon saved his life and ended that of the other dragon's. However, the commander's leg was shredded and rendered useless by the other dragon and caused him to go into an early retirement. Ajax was also relieved of duty shortly after his partner's retirement much to his anger and disliking. However, the dragon accepted his fate and put his years of success in the army behind him and focused on being there for Zachary as he sank into a depression from his injury.     Ajax's handler soon recovered, although bound in a wheel chair, and began to pursue new career paths. However, his dragon still longed for the adrenaline of battle and missed his glory days of defeating enemy after enemy until there was nothing left but victory. Zachary could see the sadness and longing in his dragon, and helped Ajax shift his attention to a new passion, well slightly new. This new passion for Ajax was none other than the Arena. The wyvern now had a new found meaning to his life as he trained and fought battles in the arena, defeating most of the dragons who opposed him.     Beforelong Ajax had become a champion of the arena and Zachary cheered him on every step of the way, the two still forever being companions despite their army days being far behind them.
