Gawain was orphaned and raised by a sorceress hidden in a tower in the swamps. She loved him dearly and taught him about magic and the pursuit of arcane knowledge, but one day he found himself on his own without the love and support of his mentor. Without her, Gawain had to learn quickly that the spoiled life of a tamed beast was far different than surviving on your own in the wild. He's inexperienced and naive, but has a curiousity for arcane items and relics, going far out of his way to collect and hoard them in the pursuit of knowledge, just like his master.
